Losing someone is difficult. Beyond the pain that comes with the grieving process, there are a lot of questions and big decisions to sort out—usually right away. This doesn’t make dealing with the pain of loss any easier. However, you can trust that All California Cremation will handle your loved one with care and show the proper respect toward you and your family.
That being said, there’s nothing wrong with wondering about the cremation process and having questions. If you’ve been curious about cremation in any way, you’re in the right place.
Before cremation can happen, a death certificate must be filed first. This is done through your local registrar. In order to cremate a body, you will also need a permit for cremation, which can also be obtained from your local registrar as well as a cremation authorization signed by the legal next of kin. Once the death certificate has been filed and you’ve received a cremation permit, you can move forward with the cremation.
An appointment will be scheduled. The body is not embalmed for a cremation, so to offset any decomposition, it can be stored in a refrigeration unit on-site. The body is placed in a container and then cremated at intensely high heat for a couple of hours or so.
Yes. All remains that can feasibly be returned to the family are. Following the cremation, there will be fragments that need to be broken down into smaller pieces. This can take a while. You can expect to receive the ashes of your loved one about a week after the cremation.
Cremated remains are made up of remains of the individual, including bone fragments, as well as particles from the clothing worn by the individual and particles from the box they were cremated in. All of these are returned to the family. There may be some microscopic particles that are lost in the crematorium itself, but rest assured the utmost care is given to retrieving the remains of your loved one, including the use of a high suction vacuum through the entire process.
